2009 was an EPIC – year. Hawaii ULTRAMAN World Championships V-Blog & End of the year report.

On November 27th, 28th and 29th I experienced a beautiful transformation that will forever be a blessing to my life.  I learned that the race is not against me or anyone else… the race is about the “journey .“ The people who come into your life, those you touch and others you heal while on your journey. The Ultraman is like no other race you will ever experience. It’s not about time. It’s about the process.  What it takes to get “there,” the finish line.

I had one of the most magical and EPIC years of my life. Going in to 2009 I had a few goals I wanted to accomplish: race two 70.3 events and qualify for the Ironman World Championships, race Ultraman Canada as well as the Ultraman World Championships in Kona. My biggest goal was to race/ finish two Ultraman races in the same year.  Not for me, but to show the world that anything is possible.

Many doubted. Most thought I was crazy. So I went into a cave and focused on my mission.

It only takes one person to believe in your journey … and that person was Dave C., my coach. I tell Dave my mission and he makes it happen. But, most of all he looks me in the eyes and has faith in me. Yes, I put in the hundreds of hours and thousands of miles … but Dave always says the same thing year in and year out, “Yes you can.”

I had a chance to thank Dave by inviting him to the 2009 ESPY Awards. Dave will never take credit for this year and that’s fine. I can’t think of a better way to honor and thank your coach than to perform in the way that I did this year. That being said, I would like to add: Dave, let’s split the honor.

It was an honor to be nominated for an ESPY, a blessing to win. I can’t put into words what it was like to be in the same room with the likes of Phelps, Kobe, the USA Soccer Team and Brian Clay.

I have so many I would like to thank … you already know who you are, so – a big Thank you!

I just finished writing my book, “Running on Faith.“ It will be going to print the first of the year with an on sale date of August 24th. This book is my way of thanking each and every one of you for being my biggest inspiration while I inspire the world. We truly are all “one.”

What’s up for 2010? I’ll be posting it here in the next week or so. It’s going to be EPIC!

NEVER STOP!
